Phoenix_International_Raceway_LogoPhoenix, Arizona (May 14, 1999)- You could hear the rumble of the World Speed Motorsports engines rounding the oval at Phoenix International Raceway Thursday and Friday as the team ran several testing sessions on the 1.0-mile track. Team Owner, Chuck West had both the KOOL/Toyota Atlantic team and the STAR Formula Mazda team participating in testing to get prepared for many upcoming races.

Nicolas Rondet, who drives the Toyota Atlantic #14 World Speed Motorsports/Red Line Oil, Martini Sunglasses Swift 008.a, is preparing for his second oval race, which will be at Gateway International Raceway, Saturday, May 29. “Everything is running smoothly. Nicolas is more than ready for his second oval race. The crew has done a terrific job making sure the car is in perfect condition,” said West.

World Speed STAR Mazda front-runners, Jeff Bucknam, Bryan Willman, Grant Ryley, Pierre Ehret and Ginni Swanton ran a terrific testing session without any problems. “We have a new engineering team featuring Mike Miller (who was Bucknum’s Star Mazda teammate at World Speed last year). We’re beginning to tap into our full potential, which is going to be great as the season progresses. Now we are focused on the Willow Springs race which will be June 12-13,” said Bucknam.

“Both our Atlantic and Mazda team had a great testing session and we are all looking forward to that next podium finish,” said West.
