The Formula Pro USA 2026 Western Championship opened this past weekend at the historic Sonoma Raceway. “Springing forward” into the new year, the series featured a highly competitive grid and a commanding showcase from the World Speed team.

Drivers battled across three distinct classes—FPUSA-3, FPUSA-4, and the Women’s Racing Series (WRS)—taking on Sonoma’s challenging 2.52-mile road course. Utilizing the technical 9-9a chicane layout, the thrilling double-header event set a high-octane tone for the rest of the year.

Weekend Racing Highlights & World Speed Results: The World Speed roster delivered an exceptional weekend of racing, capturing multiple victories and podium finishes:

  • Dan Decker (F3): Swept the weekend with two F3 wins.
  • Larry Schnur (F3): Secured two F3 podiums and strong race pace
  • Yana Kapoor (WRS F4): Matched the team’s overall winning momentum by securing two victories in the WRS F4 division.
  • Erik Doan (F4): The VMB Scholarship driver made a spectacular debut in his first-ever car race, grabbing second place overall in both F4 races.
  • Scott Pyle (F4): Secured a hard-fought third-place podium finish in Saturday’s race.
  • Austin Tiller (F4): Closed out the weekend by capturing the final podium position on Sunday.

Championship Standings Impact: Following this blockbuster opening weekend, World Speed drivers have surged to the top of the championship points standings. The team currently holds the top two positions in F3, the number one spot in WRS F4, and occupies three of the top five ranks in the overall F4 standings.
