Carrio moves ahead in points

Despite never having been on the track before, Adrian (Ace) Carrio and his Rockford Fosgate / World Speed Motorsports car took to Road America in commanding style last Thursday. He learned the track quickly and demonstrated his comfort by placing his car in the top five on the charts throughout the weekend. Unfortunately circumstance and lady luck did not smile on Ace, or for that matter, Graham Rahal, Pablo Donoso, Brad Jaeger or Marco Andretti. All of who, were involved in a first lap incident in the race which ultimately lead to their, and a few others’ retirement from the race. However despite this result Ace was able to move up one place in the championship due to misfortune befalling so many of his close competitors.
“We had a great car this weekend, said Carrio, my engineer Mike Doyle and all of the World Speed team gave me a car that I felt like I could do what I wanted to with. I was disappointed not to be able to drive it to the front, especially while Discovery Channel was here, but that’s racing.” In addition to his normal weekend duties Ace was being spotlighted in a Discovery Channel special that was focusing on Speed Secrets driving school and coaches and the mental aspects of racecar driving. Discovery should be airing the show in November.
“We had a good car this weekend,” said team owner Telo Stewart, “and since we didn't get to demonstrate it in the race we are especially looking forward to the next race.” The next round of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear will take place at Mosport Raceway in Oshawa, Canada on September 3rd. Joining Ace in Canada is team veteran Frank McCormick who will be back on the World Speed Motorsports roster.
