World Speed Motorsports Sponsored FSAE Team in the Top Ten

Michigan State University's Formula SAE team placed ninth overall at the international SAE-east competition that took place Wednesday May 17 – Sunday May 21 at the Ford Motor Company's Michigan Proving Grounds in Romeo, Michigan. Approximately 140 teams from around the world entered this year. World Speed Motorsports provided data acquisition hardware and information that helped the team reach its goals.

“We really believe in the concept of FSAE, and when Michigan State’s team contacted us we were ready to get on board with their program. It is really impressive what the students are able to accomplish with such a small budget. To finish in the top ten out of 140 teams from around the world is remarkable. We look forward to seeing how they do at the West Coast event this weekend,” said WSM Team Manager Mark Milazzo.

The MSU Racing team is also entered in the FSAE- West competition, June 14-17, at the California Speedway.The Formula SAE® competition is for SAE student members to conceive, design, fabricate, and compete using small formula-style racing cars . Restrictions are placed on the car frame and engine so that the knowledge, creativity, and imagination of the students are challenged. The cars are built with a team effort over a period of about one year and are taken to the annual competition for judging and comparison with approximately 140 other vehicles from colleges and universities throughout the world. The end result is a great experience for creative students in a meaningful engineering project, as well as the opportunity of working in a dedicated team effort.
