Thursday's gray clouds gave way to sunny skies this morning, allowing the thirty-nine Star Mazda competitors a chance to improve on their Thursday practice times at Road America for Round Nine of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear. With the improved conditions championship points leader Adrian Carrio, of Monument, Colorado, set the fastest time of the session, lapping the 4.048-mile circuit in a time of 2:04.967 (116.613 MPH) in his #14 World Speed Motorsports Rockford Fosgate Mazda.
Santiago, Chile native Pablo Donoso, making his return to the series, posted the second fastest time in the session with a lap of 2:05.160 (116.433 MPH) as he fills in this weekend for Brad Jaeger in the #2 Andersen Racing Team Mazda, and Ryan Justice completed the top three for the session as he clocked a time of 2:05.275 (116.326 MPH) in the #38 Northwest Autosport J&M Body Shops Mazda.
